As an active corporate citizen, we take pride in our commitment to supporting a variety of community projects. Following is a sample of the numerous worthwhile projects that Apis has supported in recent times.

The Maxim Invitational Tournament is an annual charity event run by Maxim Chartered Accountants in partnership with the Apis Group and brings together a number of Canberra businesses to compete in teams. Each year a different charity is selected and all proceeds are donated to this charity.
The event is organised in a round robin format, number of pools with a semi-final and final. Teams have a minimum of two and a maximum of four members who can rotate during the day in matches that are fifteen minutes in duration.
The key mission of Make-A-Wish Australia is to grant the wishes of children and young people with life-threatening medical conditions.
Apis is very proud to support the Make-A-Wish foundation and help to enrich the lives of young people in Australia.
Kiva is an organisation that allows people to lend money via the Internet to microfinance institutions in developing countries around the world, which in turn lend the money to small businesses and students. Kiva allows microfinance institutions around the world to post profiles of qualified local entrepreneurs on its website, kiva.org. Individuals or businesses can fund as little as $25 and as much as the entire amount of the loan.
Apis is currently supporting 10 individual entrepreneurs from various countries including Cambodia, Rwanda, Iraq, Burkina Faso, Lebanon, Nicaragua, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Apis is a major sponsor for the National Fencing Circuit.
Fencing is a rapidly growing sport in ACT, with Canberrans gaining increasing prominence on the national open and junior stages. Apis has been sponsoring the ACT Fencing Association in its hosting of several national A-Grade fencing tournaments. Held at the AIS main arena, the A-Grade tournaments attract Australia’s best fencing talent to Canberra, including an impressive array of past and present Olympic athletes, and international competitors. This in turn lifts the profile of the sport in ACT. The Canberra tournaments are now well recognised as among the best organised in the country. As a key sponsor, Apis support has been critical to ensuring the success of these tournaments, which in turn has helped ACT secure the hosting of the upcoming Australian Open in November 2012.

In July 2011, the Apis team supported the annual Autism Asperger ACT ball. The theme was Viva Italia – a night filled with Italian passion for life. Apis staff joined in the romance of Italy, and enjoyed becoming a VIP (Very Italian Person) for the night. We also drooled over Italian scooters, and participated in the various charity auctions (with some success).
