The Australian Government’s Department of Defence is responsible for defending Australia and its national interests, and to actively promote peace in our region and globally.
Apis has had a successful, ongoing relationship with an element of the Department of Defence since 2004. Apis was the original designer of a tailored Project Management Methodology (PMM), and authors of the supporting documentation.
Apis consultant Tim Turner was recently re-engaged by Defence, with the support of fellow consultant Stuart Jenkins, to rewrite the methodology and update the supporting documentation, reflecting the current project management needs of elements within Defence.
Since the development of the first PMM, Apis has been supporting implementation of the methodology with targeted project management training. Stuart was among the first facilitators of the Project Management courses delivered in 2005, and has maintained a consistent learning and development relationship with Defence.
The launch of the new PMM resulted in the need for tailored training to be provided to certain Defence project managers. This enabled them to better support the implementation of the PMM methodology. Using the latest PMM version as the baseline, Stuart designed and developed an interactive, five day project management course.
Apis is also developing a number of complementary training courses. These include a two day PMM refresher course aimed at project managers who completed training a number of years ago, and a two day Procurement and Contract Management course, designed to support project managers in these key areas. This comprehensive suite of training courses will be delivered throughout 2010-11.
Apis’ Learning and Development (L&D) team continues to provide tailored project management, procurement and contract management courses to a range of government agencies.
