Nigel is a partner and director of the Apis Group, with responsibility and oversight across all aspects of the successful operations of the business.
He joined the firm in 2002 and since then has led numerous consulting assignments for a wide range of government and private sector clients. His skills lie in the disciplines of project management, program evaluation, complex procurement, strategic consulting and analytical problem solving. He has advised on numerous major reform and corporate improvement initiatives for government across many sectors including health, human services, social services, customs and border security and international aid among others.
Nigel brings more than 15 years experience in complex procurement, including the development of sourcing strategies, and the running of major procurement processes for products and services. He led major procurement for the Department of Health and Ageing on the eHealth program. His procurement expertise has been applied to major projects and policy programs for ICT, business services, health services, international aid projects, construction and engineering.
Nigel’s career started in the engineering profession, specialising in offshore geotechnics. He has a doctorate from Oxford University and in 1993 was awarded a post doctorate fellowship with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, where he spent more than a year in Oslo researching and consulting for Norwegian oil and gas companies. His career includes more than six years with BHP in Western Australia working on major resource development projects in the Pilbara and offshore north-western Australia.
